Scripture Memory Challenge Verse 2

I am so excited about those of you who have agreed to learn Scripture this year.  A couple of you have told me that you were joining us although you didn't comment on the original post.  That is great!!  The more, the merrier!!  For those of you who would like to comment on the Scripture memory posts and have trouble doing so, please let me know.  You can shoot me an email at frenzylins@hotmail.com.  If you have a gmail account, you can submit your post signing in with your google account username.  If you don't have a gmail account, you can sign in as anonymous.  I try very hard to approve your comments quickly.  Sometimes, though, your comments get held up in cyberspace and take their time getting to my email account for me to approve.  But once they do, I almost always approve them right away.

When you make your comment this time with your verse and address, if you would like, please let me know how you feel about the Scripture memory challenge and/or how God has already used the verse you learned for January 1st.  I think we would all be encouraged by reading how God has used/will use the verses He already has in mind for us to learn and apply to our lives.

Because my verse for January 1st was short and sweet, I was able to reflect on the peace that comes from knowing my Maker has searched me (because He made me) and knows me well.  There is no one else who knows or cares for me more.  What comfort!

Ok, friends.  I'm ready to hear from you.  But first, here's my verse for January 15th...

"You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar." -Psalm 139:2 (NIV)

May the comfort and peace that comes from God's Holy Word blow upon your life at hurricane force!

  1. Many times we are so quick to judge people and we're very reluctant to extend grace to them. My verse, Galatians 6:10, reminds me "to do good to ALL people". I'm still working on learning it, as well as putting it into practice.

My verse for today: "And whatever you do in word or deed do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him." Col. 3:17

    Let's see.....could there be a pattern here?

  2. Here's my verse for the second part of January--"For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world." That's 1 John 2:16 KJV(as I work my way SLOWLY through 1 John)

  5. i have been doing some paraphrasing with the verse i chose with the help of some definitions. so i wanted to share this beautiful paraphrase that came out of just defining the word "deceive" that is in the verse.
Do not merely listen to the Word and so allow something deceptively attractive to entangle, impede, or trap you into cheating or being false to yourself so as to not allow the Word to fulfill you. Do what It says.
I can't tell you how exciting this is to me! I have always given myself unrealistic expectations of memorizing a verse a week and failed every time. Allowing myself the 2 weeks to really focus and allow the Word to resonate and delve deep down is just the challenge God knew i personally needed! Thank you Lindsey for allowing God to use you to challenge us!

  6. Sorry so late! I'm really enjoying it, Lindsey! I have always done scripture memory sporadically so I'm glad to have this accountability!
