Scripture Memory Verse 3

Congratulations friends!  You have the first month of Scripture memory already behind you.  I wish we were all here together, sipping our coffee, sharing how the Lord has used our 2 verses from January in each of our lives.  I know there would be some testifyin' goin' on!!

Before I share my verse for February 1st with you, I wanted to give you a little insight into what the Lord is teaching me through the learning of Psalm 139.  When you comment, please feel free to share with the rest of us what God is teaching you.  Lord knows if we're gonna do this Scripture memory challenge together, let's at least agree to all learn from one another, as well. 

The first two verses in Psalm 139 are short and simple in structure.  The reminders, though, behind these simple words are quite powerful.  Wouldn't you agree that Jesus is a brilliant combination of love and mystery, power and humility?  I'm often struck at how He knows what we should be doing, yet let's us come to the realization on our own - how He wants for us to seek Him although He longs for an interaction.  In learning my verses for January, I was reminded that Jesus, simply put, sees it all.  Now, before you start having flashbacks of Scary Sunday School Teacher wiggling her bony, unpolished finger at you saying in her best Wicked Witch of the West voice, "I'll get you my pretty, and Jesus will too.  You know He sees everything," let's remember how much peace and comfort can come from knowing that simple truth.  Jesus DOES sees everything.  He knows everything, too.  He knows when I sit and when I rise.  He knows my deepest thoughts.  And although this thought can ignite fear in my heart because I know what kind of dark things lurk in my mind, I can't help but feel relieved to know I'm not the one in charge here. 

Yes, Jesus does see it all and He knows it all.  He knows this because He's created a beautiful plan for my life, and I will never be able to fulfill my purpose on this planet and in this lifetime based on what I know.  He is the Mastermind.  I am so thankful I have Him to submit it all.

My verse for February 1 is...
"You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways." -Psalm 139:3 (NIV)

    Psalm 139 has made me feel unexpectedly wanted. I think one of the biggest fears, among women, is that we will no longer be needed or wanted. Someone else with a fresher word or a fresher hair-do will come along, speak great words of wisdom, and little ole me will be left in the dust. But what Psalm 139:1 says is the exact opposite of what my flesh feels- He has SEARCHED for me. Before I even knew he wanted me he knew he wanted me. How can you deny not ever being wanted after that? Our Lord God wants us more than anything, so much so, that he knows all the little intracacies of our personality. He longs AND WANTS me, you, and everyone...How awesome is that! It doesn't matter how the world views us or accepts us, our One and Only wants us so bad he searched for us long before we even knew it.

  2. My verses for last month were about "doing good to and for God's people". I've still got a long way to go on learning those AND putting them into practice.

    This month my verses will come out of Ephesians. I jotted these verses down in my journal as I studied the other day and I determined that I would learn them. I guess it follows in that vein of "giving" only this time the gift is given to us from our Heavenly Father. Here are my verses:
    "For this reason I kneel before the Father from whom every family in heaven and earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith. Ephesians 3:14-17 NIV

  3. Here's my verse for February 1st. Tried to post it this morning at school, but the filter wouldn't let me. It's 1 John 2:17 from the KJV: "And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever." Lala Ball Cooper

    needed to meditate on some humility and comfort that God provides for me what I need to fulfill His purpose in my life only, no more, no less.

    I am loving this! I have the verses on my phone wallpaper so that every time I turn on my phone, His words are right there. It's helped me memorize so easily. I can see now that God knows me better than I know myself - another reason to trust Him with everything.
